Green machine 2

Well, we have been trying to put in some work on the "Green Machine" between all the summer rains. Seems like whenever I open the garage door and get out the tools it starts to rain. The body work is in full swing and all the little parts are going to get a little TLC. New safari glass is in order and we are trying to get this well used bus to fit a little tighter. Bubba tweaked the door and lids to make them right. Chad fixed and cleaned up latches, windows and little misc. parts. Nick was our "not so" clean up man. Thanks go out to Jason Rice, Chris, Pierson and Joe for their work on this project. She's getting close to paint by now so next update should be good!

57 Panel "the green machine"

Owner Chadd Magee has owned this bus for many years. Purchased for just $53 bucks it is one surprisingly straight and rust free 57. Suffering from an engine fire several years ago, it has been sitting outside since then and some of the results from that were starting to show. Chadd brought it over to Bill's garage and work is being done to refurbish the panel. Lots of neat upgrades will be done like narrowing the rear suspension, new motor and new wheels. A "top secret" logo will be added as well. This is just phase one, looking for issues and repairing some of the body damages incurred from many years of swapping at shows and being driven just about everywhere!

The "virgin" gets a face lift part 3

Well, this is where the going gets tough! Kevin AKA "pigpen" from KCW, Dan Bristol, and Yaril from Yarils garage helped Mike and Serina and gave the virgin the final push to get her ready for her debut at Winterjam. She was getting close but wouldn't have made it. Tasks like installing the engine, seats, door panels, windows and hardware needed to be done. Also, starting the car and working all the bugs out had to be done. We the end result is stunning and you can see for yourself on our members rides page.

The "virgin" gets a face lift part 2

Once the pan and body were finished. It was time to mate the two halves together. The front beam was changes to an Oldspeed 6" narrowed with shock towers. Also the electrical and gauges were added along with the wheels. The car was completely covered inside with sound deadening material and the windows started to go in once he headliner was installed.

The "virgin" gets a face lift part 1

The "virgin" or Mikes 56 oval was showing it's age. Still considered very nice among the VW community, Mike decided the car deserved to be brought back to her former beauty. She was completely taken apart sprayed Texas brown and re attached to her freshly powder coated pan with new disk brakes and Rancho trans with a super diff and custom gears.

Bill's vert part 2 " a clean slate"

The car has been chemically dipped removing all bondo, rust and paint. Bill trailered it back home to start the long process of welding the body to make it look new again. The body proved to be straight with as much rust as expected, mostly in the lower areas of the car. As soon as it came home it was completely sealed and primered to ensure that no rust got a chance to do it's damage again.
